About Us:

Scott and Kim Chafee served as missionaries in Zambia from 1993-1999, through the International Mission Board. It was a life-changing experience. Once someone visits Zambia it gets into your blood, and we’re talking about more than just malaria!

We were assigned to Kitwe in 1993-1995, serving as missionaries to the Copperbelt University. Work was going well, preaching in the rural areas, working with other Zambia missionaries and many wonderful local Zambian leaders, building a campus ministry, we even saw the beginnings of a Baptist Church in Kitwe near the University (Riverside Baptist Church) … then after a medical transfer in 1995, we moved to Lusaka where Scott became the mission treasurer and instructor at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zambia. Scott taught biblical studies and pastoral ministries courses, and was director of Theological Field Education. Kim was public relations director for the mission, and a trustee of the seminary, teaching ESL and directing the music program. We were active members at Twin Palm Baptist Church, meeting in the seminary chapel.

Our second term brought changes, Scott was full-time at the seminary, and the IMB began changes in their strategic directives. We left the field and Scott began work at the IMB home office in January 1999 where he became a missionary candidate consultant working with the International Service Corps and Journeyman mobilization team; primarily working with Journeyman candidates. He constantly challenged students to invest their first 2 years after graduation overseas building the Kingdom, before they jump start their chosen career. He created www.go2years.com as an easy place to get started.

While in Richmond, VA, Kim went on to earn her Master of Divinity with Church Music degree from the now closed, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.

After graduation, we both joined the staff at Chatham Baptist Church in Chatham VA; Kim was Pastor of Music and Worship while Scott was Pastor of Missions and Discipleship. Scott also taught Apologetics and Bible Survey at Hargrave Military Academy. Kim also taught Band at Woodlawn Academy (now the Carlisle School) and directed the Hargrave Chapel Chorus.

Since 2007, Scott serves on staff at King’s Grant Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Kim has been the music director at Central Baptist Church in Ghent (Downtown Norfolk), South Norfolk Baptist Church in Chesapeake, and music interim at Southside Baptist in the summer of 2018. She is also a credentialed and gifted chaplain who serves as the Director of Chaplaincy Services with @Heart Homecare and Hospice in Virginia Beach.
