The Eternal Home of the Saints

I have a series of Bible study books by a scholar named, Irving L. Jensen, so below are a few outline notes from the one on the Revelation. Why the Revelation? My church has an adult Bible study where we just started a study in this book. This is an outline of Jensen’s work with a few of my own additions.

NOTES:

  1. The Triad of Heaven (G. Campbell Morgan) is Love, Light, and Life.
  2. What will be our heavenly activities (Revelation 22:3-5)?
  3. How can you describe heaven? Is that something that people look forward to, or does it seem boring to the average church-goer?
  4. No More Sea (Revelation 21:1) – symbolic of trouble, and a separator of people in the world.
  5. Nations (Revelation 21:24) – this is referring to the Gentiles.
  6. Healing (Revelation 22:2) – meaning is health-giving with the idea of serving or ministering.
  7. Blessed is He (Revelation 22:7) – this is the sixth of seven beatitude in the Revelation (Revelation 1:3, 14:13, 16:15, 19:9, 20:6, 22:14).
  8. Let Him Be Unjust Still (Revelation 22:11) – this does not mean that men should remain unmoved by the prophecies of this book, but rather that if the prophecies are rejected, there is no other message of hope for them.
  9. Be With You All (Revelation 22:21) – some important ancient manuscripts read, “be will all the saints.”
  10. Christ lights up heaven; what other verses support this? (John 1:7-9, 3:19, 8:12, 12:35-36, 1 John 1:5-7).
  11. What ways will be serve God in heaven?
  12. What are your thoughts about Revelation 22:4?
  13. The Bible begins with the story of creation and ends with the story of recreation. The point of the Bible is that mankind cannot save himself, so we need the grace of God to intervene. Sin drove mankind from the garden and grace brings mankind back to an everlasting paradise.
