The Men of Steel (Proverbs 27:17)

Men today want to be Superman for their spouse, their kids and appear to have it all together. But even Superman had his vulnerability; kryptonite! This is a call to every man, to become a “man of steel,” living out Proverbs 27:17, “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” So, that is how Men of Steel got started…

There is currently a group that meets at 7:00 am on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, at Denny’s next to Sam’s Club. Join us, there is room for over 40 men in the back room! Join the group: HERE.

Why is Men’s Ministry So Important?

Men’s ministry is so much more than just providing activities for men, like men are looking for something else to add to their schedules! Consider this information:

Why men’s ministry is so important.

I was recently reading Leadership magazine and this information gripped me (click the image to the left to better read the statistics).

Add to this list… that eight do not find their jobs satisfying, six pay only the monthly minimum on credit cards, and the four who get divorced will affect 1 million children each year. Indeed, men are in a battle for their souls; and many don’t even realize it. Do we believe that we are immune to these problems?

What about discipleship? The biblical model is not outdated:

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Paul writing to Timothy, in 2 Timothy 2:1-2.

So, how does a disciple wannabe find a “Paul” who is willing to invest his life into another person? How can a mature believer find a “Timothy” who desires to learn and grow into an authentic follower of Christ?

Think of what a ministry to men can do for our community, for marriages, families and businesses… ponder, plan and pray with me about how God will work in the life of our congregation, and that a ministry specifically involving men can come to fruition. Share your ideas!

(This graphic was from an ad in Leadership Journal back in 2007, for Patrick Morley’s book, “A Man’s Guide to Spiritual Disciplines,” the statistics are found page 16).

Our Commission

Men’s Ministry is the active pursuit of men in order to connect them to God, His Word, and other men for the purpose of winning, growing, and training God’s men in Christ.

Can a men’s ministry enable a man to better understand his calling in life and how to achieve it? Can a men’s ministry challenge a man to grow deeper in intellect, emotion, and spirit? Can a men’s ministry teach men how to stay sexually pure? The answer to this question is a resounding yes!

Every man involved in ministry in King’s Grant Baptist Church is a part of the Men’s Ministry, whether or not they ever come to a men’s breakfast!
