We Are Called to Learn

Chuck Warnock preached this sermon on 22 July 2007. Here are a few notes... Mary and Martha have two different ways of interacting with Jesus....

In City Slickers, the movie has a trail-wise cowboy that tells the cowpoke guests about life being about only one thing, and they had to find out what it was.

1. Hospitality is more about people than it is about preparations.

2. Community changes us and our relationships.

1) Where two or three are gather, Christ is there.

2) The Corinthians needed guidance on communion, the essence of community. This is not done in private, but in community. (1) With two people, there is a two-way conversation. (2) With three people, there is a six-way conversation.

3. What is the one thing each must find in life? It is more important to be with God than it is to do things for God.

1) How does anyone show love to another? Time. Ask any child whose father is often away on business.

2) Our salvation is not by works, so what can we do to for God to better our relationship with Him?

3) Discipleship is not to be limited to religious gathering times, but constantly following the Master.
