We Are Called to Go
Chuck Warnock preached this sermon on 8 July 2007. Here are
a few notes... The 72 disciples were sent out to help prepare the way for Jesus.
-
We are called to go together - in pairs - with a
corroborating testimony, another instance of Christian community.
-
We are called to go where Jesus is going - not where He has
been. Go to the place where Jesus will show up; the advance party with the
gospel. Similar to Blackaby's statement about finding out what God is doing
and joining Him there.
-
We are called to go to demonstrate the kingdom - the
kingdom of God is near. They were to heal first and then tell what they knew.
-
We are called to go in the midst of opposition and
indifference - why did people not listen to this wonderful message? Perhaps
they were too busy or too content.
-
We are called to go in God's power - even the demons
submitted in Jesus' name. Greater power than this would be seen, Jesus has the
power to redeem and save.
-
We are called to go into the harvest - not just care for
the barn.
