     Chapter 1

 

The proclamation of Cyrus for the building of the temple – Ezra 1:1

     Chapter 4

 

Their adversaries, not permitted to help the Jews build the temple, try to hinder them – Ezra 4:1

Their letter to Artaxerxes – Ezra 4:7

The decree of Artaxerxes – Ezra 4:17

The building is stopped – Ezra 4:23

 

     Chapter 5

 

Zerubbabel and Jeshua, spurred on by Haggai and Zechariah, advance the building of the temple – Ezra 5:1

Tatnai and Shethar-boznai are unable to stop the Jews – Ezra 5:3

Their letter to Darius against the Jews – Ezra 5:6

 

     Chapter 6

 

Darius, finding the decree of Cyrus, makes a new decree for advancing the building – Ezra 6:1

By help from the enemies and the directions of the prophets, the temple is finished – Ezra 6:13

The feast of the dedication is kept – Ezra 6:16

and also the feast of the passover – Ezra 6:19

 

     Chapter 7

 

Ezra goes up to Jerusalem – Ezra 7:1

The gracious commission of Artaxerxes to Ezra – Ezra 7:11

Ezra praises God for His favor – Ezra 7:27

 

     Chapter 8

 

The companions of Ezra who returned from Babylon – Ezra 8:1-2

He sends to Iddo for ministers for the temple – Ezra 8:15

He commits the treasury to the custody of the priests – Ezra 8:24-25

They leave Ahava and come to Jerusalem – Ezra 8:31

The treasure is weighed in the temple – Ezra 8:33

The commission is delivered – Ezra 8:36

 

     Chapter 9

 

Ezra mourns because of Israel’s connection with foreigners of various lands – Ezra 9:1

He prays – Ezra 9:5

 

     Chapter 10

 

Shechaniah encourages Ezra to reform the foreign marriages – Ezra 10:1

Ezra, mourning, assembles the people – Ezra 10:6

The people, at the exhortation of Ezra, repent and promise to put away foreign wives – Ezra 10:9

Their diligence to fulfill this promise – Ezra 10:15

The names of those who had married foreign women – Ezra 10:18
